IEBC begins recruitment process to replace Chiloba »Capital News

NAIROBI, Kenya, December 24 – The Independent Elections and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) announced on Friday the start of the recruitment process to hire a new chief executive.

The commission advised interested candidates to submit their applications before the close of business on January 21, 2022.

The new CEO will fill a post left vacant by Chiloba, now CEO of the Communications Authority, who was fired in October 2018. Since then, the commission’s deputy director-general, Marjan Hussein, has taken on the role ad interim.

The commission said the secretariat post had to be filled ahead of the hefty 2022 general election on August 9.

“The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission is seeking to recruit dynamic, competent and results-oriented individuals for the post of secretary of the Commission,” read the newspaper advertisement.

The commission said applications must be submitted both online and in print, and must include copies of certificates, national ID and testimonials showing the job title.

The committee further announced that applicants are required to submit integrity attestation certificates from the respective statutory bodies.

The IEBC said candidates found in the canvassing would be immediately disqualified, claiming the election agency is an “equal opportunity employer.”

“It is important to note that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted and that further details on the requirements are available on the commission’s website,” he added.

The IEBC further revealed that it is recruiting people for the post of Deputy Secretary of the Commission and Senior Election Officers for the following constituencies: Muhoroni, Buuri, Kilifi North, Gichugu, Kuresoi North, Kajiado Central, Lamu North and Teso South.

In addition, the post of electoral assistants in Tiaty, Dagoretti North, Tigania East, Kirinyaga Central and Kisumu Central was declared open.

“Only applicants submitting both physical and online applications will be considered; only successful applicants will be required to submit integrity attestation certificates from the respective statutory bodies, ”the agency noted.
